1. What is InternetSeer?
    InternetSeer is a remote Web site monitoring service established to keep its subscribers informed as to the status of their Web site. If our service at any time detects that your Web site cannot be reached, we send you a notice that states the error we encountered via e-mail so that you may take action to repair the problem.

    A second email is sent if your site continues to be on error 30 minutes after the initial error is detected. When your site is back up, a recovery email is sent informing you of the change.

    On a weekly basis, InternetSeer Subscribers receive a weekly performance email with detailed statistics on the previous week of monitoring. Included in the report are links to tips and articles to help grow, protect, and reduce cost for your company.

11. I have a limited amount of bandwidth per month. How much is required?
    Under normal circumstances, InternetSeer checks your Web site once per hour, 24 hours a day. The check we do is a HEAD request, which means we only request INFORMATION on the page, not the page itself. We do not download images, multimedia content, or any other content from your Web site. This means that InternetSeer's total bandwidth usage per month is very low.

    To be more precise;

    Our HEAD request is approximately 100 bytes (incoming).
    Your server's response to our request will be approximately 300 bytes (outgoing).

    100 bytes X 24 times a day X 30 days a month = 72,000 bytes of incoming traffic
    300 bytes X 24 times a day X 30 days a month = 216,000 bytes of outgoing traffic

    Given that the average size of a Web page (with no images) is 28k, Internetseer's monitoring traffic is equivalent to only serving about 10 pages per month.
Note: These number hold true only if your Web site is up and operating correctly the entire month. If we detect problems with your site, we do multiple checks using GET requests, which will use additional bandwidth.

12. Your checks are skewing my Web site access logs. What can I do?
    Under normal circumstances, InternetSeer checks your Web site 24 times a day. That's a total of approximately 720 hits per month. Most people do not consider this a significant number of hits, considering that commercial Web sites receive tens if not hundreds of thousands of hits per month.

    If you desire to exclude InternetSeer from your access logs, we use the user agent "InternetSeer.com". There should be documentation with your specific access reporting product that will instruct you how to exclude us from your logs.
Note: These number hold true only if your Web site is up and operating correctly the entire month. If we detect problems with your site, we do multiple checks using GET requests, which will use additional bandwidth.
